Govt releases Rs2,490.503 million for food security projects
The amount was released for the completion of several on-going development projects.
(APP) – The government has so far released Rs2,409.503 million for several agriculture uplift projects under its Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for financial year 2019-20 as against the total allocation of Rs12,047.516 million for the current financial year.
The amount was released for the completion of several on-going development projects, besides new projects initiated under Prime Minister’s Agriculture Emergency Program to promote the agriculture and livestock sectors on modern lines for making it profitable by enhancing per-acre crop yield across the country.
Pakistan, Japan cooperate to promote agro-based industry
Pakistan and Japan have planned to increase bilateral cooperation in agricultural-based industry and value addition. Japan has already announced granting aid to enhance productivity and capacities in relevant agricultural fields of Pakistan.
Recently, Japan announced $5.2 million of support to agri-food and agro-industry development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces through the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan in Pakistan Yusuke Shindo told APP on Wednesday.
The senior diplomat said that the amount would be utilised for enhancement of productivity and capacities of relevant sectors in the cattle meat value chain in districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Abbottabad, Kohistan and DI Khan and apple value chain in province of Balochistan in Quetta, Killa Abdullah and Pishin.
