Price hike lowers cements selling, export

Cement selling in the month of January lowered as compared to the same period of the last year due to cut in the development projects by the government.

Cement export was also affected in the same month. According to JS Research report, only 25 lakh tonnes of cement was bought due to price hike. In the first seven months of the current financial year, 1.72 crore tonnes cement was sold which was 12 percent lower than last year. Cement export has also plunged by 17 percent due to increase in its prices and only 5.66 lakh tonnes cement was exported. According to the report, cement export to Qatar and Russia may be increased for the preparations of football world cup.
