Government likely to keep petroleum prices steady in next month

In order to gain full public support the prices will be maintained as they are at present.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government is likely to reject the suggestion made by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to revise prices of petroleum products upwards.

According to details, the government will probably reject the forwarded summary of Ogra in view of the current political situation.

As per the summary, petrol price may go up by Rs3per litre, diesel by Rs5 per litre, light diesel up to Rs4.50 per litre and kesrosene oil may be hiked up to Rs4 per litre.

Analysts say that the government does not intend to open any new controversy after the price hike and in order to gain full public support the prices will be maintained as they are at present.
