Pakistan offers free trade agreement to Iran

A deficit in trade between the two countries was seen after the implementation of sanctions on Iran.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan on Tuesday has offered a free trade agreement to Iran. Federal Trade Minister Khurram Dastaghir met with Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Hunur in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Federal Trade Minister stated that this was the most effective time for converting the preferential deal into a free trade agreement now that the economic sanctions were lifted from Iran after the nuclear deal.

Dastaghir stated that if Iran was willing, a draft of the agreement could also be sent to the country.

According to the Trade Minister, three posts at Pak-Iran border will also be facilitated with state of the art technology and work on joining them through road is already underway. Dastaghir stated that these will then be linked to roads leading towards the north of the country.
