BERLIN (AP) - Greece s prime minister says his country won t ask for a new loan or seek to change the aid program agreed with the international lenders.
Antonis Samaras said Friday that Greece is on track to meet the austerity targets imposed by the European Union s executive branch, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund in return for bailout funds.
A day earlier, Greece said its economy is expected to emerge from its deep recession and grow slightly next year.
Samaras told reporters after meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin that "there will not be a need for a new memorandum or new money."
He predicted that Greece will soon be able to cover not only its primary budget but also the interest payments on its outstanding loans.
