PEW on Thursday reported that OGRA officials were acting against the masses’ interests.

The Pakistan Economy Watch said that country was being pushed towards an energy crisis as top officials of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) were acting against masses’ interests.

President PEW Dr. Murtaza Mughal said OGRA board is incomplete therefore all recent decisions are legally debatable.

He said that at least three officials on the ORGA board must agree to give legal cover to a decision but currently all the decisions are being taken by Chairman OGRA and Member Oil.

Appointment of the incumbent chairman has already been challenged in the Supreme Court while member Gas has been barred from working and Member Finance has fled the country, he said.

Mughal further said the posts of Senior Executive Director (SED) Finance and SED Gas are also lying vacant in ORGA since long.

He said that those conspiring to deprive masses of economical fuel know that 3.7 million vehicles are using CNG, around one million people are directly or indirectly employed in this sector, public has invested billions in it while tens of millions get economical transportation facility on daily basis.
