The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs74.07 billion in revenue during the first month of the 2009-10 fiscal year, showing increase of 2.4 percent over the corresponding month of the last financial year. The FBR has collected Rs74.07 billion during the month of July 2009 as against Rs72.36 billion collected during July 2008, according to provisional figures issued by the board on Monday. During the month under review, Rs.18.433 billion were collected as Direct Taxes against the collection of Rs18.469 billion collected during July 2008, showing a nominal decrease of 0.2 percent. The collection of Indirect Taxes was increased by 3.2 percent by growing up from Rs53.897 billion in July 2008 to Rs55.645 billion during the month under review. During July 2009, the Sales Tax collection showed positive growth of 14.6 percent by growing up from Rs33.373 billion in July 2008 to Rs38.259 billion. Rs8.183 billion were collected as Federal Excise Duty during the month as against the collections of Rs8.187 billion during the same month of last financial year. However, the collections in the head of Customs showed negative growth of 25.4 percent by declining from Rs12.336 billion during July 2008 to Rs9.202 billion during July 2009, the figures revealed. The board refunded Rs7.888 billion during July 2009, the FBR provisional figures revealed.
