Pakistan is likely to allow certain goods import from India, says an official.

In an apparent attempt to bring normalcy in relations, Pakistan is likely to allow certain goods import from neighboring India including petrol and food items, says an official, requesting anonymity.The government is expected to issue a notification in this regard next month.Recently, India has also offered Pakistan to export natural gas in an effort to help Pakistan’s gas crises.Global oil major Royal Dutch Shell and South Koreas Daewoo are among the four-to-five companies participating in a tender to supply liquefied natural gas to Pakistan.To remove non-tariff barriers which were obstructions for Pakistani exports to India, Pakistan and India have signed three agreements last month including Customs Cooperation, Mutual Recognition and Redressal of Grievances Agreement.Customs Cooperation Agreement will help to avoid arbitrary stoppages of goods at each other’s ports; Mutual Recognition Agreement for acceptance of certificates of internationally-accredited laboratories; and Redressal of Grievances Agreement will help in case of a disagreement.It said when Pakistan notifies its negative list discussions shall be launched on reducing the size of the sensitive lists and drawing up a programme for phasing in tariff liberalization on such items and tariff liberalization for up to the 30 percent of the sensitive list shall be considered by India within four months of the notification of the small negative list by Pakistan.
