Summary Modi posed for a group photograph with representatives of BRICS member countries, and met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, among other leaders
NEW DELHI (Reuters) – Foreign ministers of BRICS member nations called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday on the sidelines of the bloc's meeting in New Delhi.
Modi posed for a group photograph with representatives of BRICS member countries, and met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, among other leaders.
The grouping, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India and China, was expanded to include South Africa in 2011, and more recently admitted Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.
The expansion has boosted its global weight but also increased internal divergences on geopolitical issues. India holds the BRICS chair for 2026.
