ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - November 15 — Pakistan and Jordan have reiterated their resolve to elevate strategic and economic cooperation, reaffirming mutual support on regional and global issues of shared concern.
The commitment came during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein at the Prime Minister House on Saturday, where both leaders held extensive discussions on strengthening bilateral ties.
The two sides agreed to broaden cooperation in trade, investment, economy, health, education, science and technology, and defence. The talks also covered regional security, peace initiatives, and ways to reinforce collaboration at international fora.
A major focus of the discussions remained the Gaza crisis. Both leaders emphasised closer coordination among the eight Arab Islamic nations working with the United States on the Gaza ceasefire and Sharm el Sheikh Gaza Peace Plan. They reaffirmed an uncompromising stance against any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.
King Abdullah II appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding support for Jordan’s stabilising role in the Middle East, particularly during the Gaza conflict and ongoing humanitarian efforts in the post-war phase. Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the King’s visit as a sign of strong and historic friendship between the two nations.
The Prime Minister also briefed the King on recent developments in Pakistan’s neighbourhood, including the situation in Afghanistan and relations with India. King Abdullah II acknowledged Pakistan’s significant role in maintaining regional peace and stability.
The visit also featured an MoU signing ceremony covering cooperation in media, culture, and education. Later, the Prime Minister hosted a banquet in honour of the visiting monarch and his delegation.
