BAKU, AZERBAIJAN (Reuters) – The COP29 venue was bustling on the first day of the World Leaders Summit, where heads of government will deliver national statements on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Security was tight, as delegations shuttled between meetings, and roads were closed around Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.

The United Nations said over 60,000 delegates have registered for COP29.
