Russia, EU, Qatar, India, Iraq, and Hamas among those who expressed sorrow over his death

DOHA/NEW DELHI (Web Desk/Agencies) – As Iran confirmed the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and other top government officials in a helicopter crash, world leaders expressed their sorrow and grief over the tragic loss.
Russian President Vladimir Putin described Raisi as an outstanding politician whose entire life was devoted to serving the Motherland.
"As a true friend of Russia, he made an invaluable personal contribution to the development of good neighbourly relations between our countries and made great efforts to bring them to the level of strategic partnership."
European Council President Charles Michel in his reaction expressed sincere condolences on behalf of the EU.
“The EU expresses its sincere condolences for the death of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian, as well as other members of their delegation and crew in a helicopter accident. Our thoughts go to the families.”
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in a statement said, “We extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, and to the nation of Iran, its government and people. We express our solidarity with the brotherly Iranian people and the officials of the Islamic Republic during this painful tragedy."
Similarly, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al-Thani in a post on X offered his condolences and asked “God Almighty for mercy and forgiveness for them and for their families with patience and solace. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return."
Also on X, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was shocked by the tragic demise of Raisi whose contribution to strengthening India-Iran bilateral relationship will always be remembered. “India stands with Iran in this time of sorrow."
On the other hand, Hamas conveyed its "deepest condolences and solidarity" to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the Iranian government, and the Iranian people for "this immense loss”.
It praised the deceased Iranian leaders for supporting the Palestinian cause and resistance against Israel and expressed confidence that Iran's "deep-rooted institutions" will enable it to overcome "the repercussions of this great loss”.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, who is the head of Yemen's Houthi Supreme Revolutionary Committee, on X said the Iranian people will remain adhering to the loyal leaders of their people by God's will.
