How dare we have a conversation about trade when children are being treated without anesthetic?
(Web Desk) - Journalist and filmmaker Myriam François has become a viral sensation after passionately condemning what she perceives as Western hypocrisy in the face of military actions in the Red Sea region.
François, who has amassed a following of 170,000 on Instagram, expressed her outrage during a recent appearance on Sky News's Monday evening show.
Addressing the ongoing conflict involving Houthi rebels and the disruption of shipping routes, François minced no words in highlighting what she sees as a stark contradiction.
She criticized the West for its military intervention in one of the world's poorest countries, Yemen, which has been grappling with humanitarian crises and famine under a prolonged blockade.
She highlighted the incongruity of prioritizing trade discussions while innocent lives are at stake.
"Sorry, so just let me get this straight, we are bombing the poorest, one of the poorest countries in the world that has been under a humanitarian blockade? There has been famine. These people have been decimated, and we are bombing them because a couple of guys and dinghies in support for the Palestinians who are having a genocide committed against them," François exclaimed during the interview.
Wowzers.

She went on to express her disbelief at the situation, saying, "This is just an insane world… I’m so sorry your Amazon packages are delayed, I really am, like, I wish mine came one time, but you know, genocide guys, genocide."
The journalist, who holds a PhD from Oxford University with a focus on Islamic movements in Morocco, clarified that she does not support the Houthi rebels themselves but stands in solidarity with their objection to the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and their support for Palestinians facing what she termed a "genocide" by Israel in Gaza.
The internet has been abuzz with François's statements, with many expressing support for her passionate stance on the situation in the Red Sea and Gaza.
The discussion took place on Sky News's Monday evening show, where François appeared alongside financier Bill Browder, sparking a flurry of interest in the journalist and her perspective on the pressing global issues.
François, who has previously worked with BBC World and TRT World and taught at global universities, including Harvard, drew attention to the West's stance on the conflict, especially in light of Israel's actions in Gaza.
