"Doomsday Clock" moved closer to midnight than ever before

World

Russia's invasion of Ukraine increased nuclear war threat, illness, climate change, atomic experts

WASHINGTON (Web Desk) - Atomic experts have moved the "Doomsday Clock" closer to midnight than ever before claiming that Russia s invasion of Ukraine has increased the threat of nuclear war, illness and climate change and hence increasing the likelihood that mankind will perish.

In 2023 the "time" on the "Doomsday Clock" will be 90 seconds to midnight which is 10 seconds closer than it has been for the previous three years.

This clock s theoretical annihilation point is midnight. Based on scientists  assessments of existential dangers at a specific moment, the clock s hands are adjusted in relation to midnight.

The present day depicts a world in which the invasion of Ukraine by Russia has rekindled nuclear war worries.

Since 2020, when it had already gotten near to midnight, the clock had been set at 100 seconds to midnight.
