World Teachers' Day being observed today to appreciate role of a teacher
The theme of the day this year is Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is being held today (October 5) to appreciate the educators all around the world and to highlight role of teacher in development of the country and society.
The theme of the day this year is “Young Teachers: The Future of the Profession.”
Different events including, walks and workshops will be organized in different parts of the country to pay tributes to the teachers for their immense contributions to the society.
On Teachers’ Day, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed that it is among the priorities of ‘Naya Pakistan’ to ensure the standing and worth of teachers in the society, as per Radio Pakistan reported.
In his message on World Teachers’ Day, he said teachers are benefactors of nation who play the role of ladder in its success.
The Prime Minister paid rich tributes to all great personalities that are called architects of the bright future of nation.
He eulogized the services of all persons associated with sacred profession of teaching who are striving to light the candle of knowledge and in building the character of younger generation.
Imran Khan said it is a great honor to be associated with the profession of prophets.
In his message on the occasion of world teachers’ day, President Arif Alvi paid tributes to the services of the teachers in national development. He said the teachers are the nation builders. He said that no country can move forward without the services of teachers.
WHAT IS TEACHERS DAY?
Teachers’ Day is an international day held annually on October 5. Teachers’ Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honor them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general.
Established in 1994, it commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which is a standard-setting instrument that addresses the status and situations of teachers around the world.
This recommendation outlines standards relating to education personnel policy, recruitment, and initial training as well as the continuing education of teachers, their employment, and working conditions.
World Teachers’ Day aims to focus on "appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world" and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.
