Research reveals people started losing confidence on Facebook

Social media users are feeling more apprehensive than ever before.

(Web Desk) – Social media is considered to be the cheapest and easy-to-access means to gain the attention of a larger audience. Though this is true, this means of communication comes with a lot of issues too especially privacy-related one. Recent report of Pew Research Center has explored how hazardous Facebook has become. Every one in four American has decided to quit using it. The same number of people has deleted it from their phones. Privacy leakage has caused people to keep from it.

The study reveals Facebook has started affecting the personal lives of its users. Some of the other facts which were revealed by the study are as follow.

Most of the people who abandoned it are those who are successful and renowned businessmen.

54 per cent of the whole population of users changed the privacy settings in a bid to have their accounts more protected.

42 per cent users have stopped using Facebook for many weeks.

Whilst there are 26 per cent who have decided to bid farewell to Facebook for life.

Another vital thing that has been explored by the study is that it explored the age group that seemed more apprehensive with regards to its privacy setting. Interestingly, the group consisted of young people was more concerned with its privacy. Keeping the threat into consideration, they their account’s settings to keep the site more friendly and secure for them.

Considering these facts and figures, it is indicative Facebook needs compacted structure of security to protect the information. Cambridge Analytica data scandal revealed how unsympathetically the data of users was being transferred to advertisement agencies. Data of around 80 million users was sold to for-profit organizations without their (users) intentions.

Now that the research by PEW has revealed impotency of the security system of the acclaimed social media site once again, users around the world, not only in America, have become more concerned. They are indeed afraid of using it and are eyeing on the site’s management to launch authenticated, synchronized system which could shelter their personal and professional information.
