(Web Desk) – Scientists have identified a 190 million years old sea monster that possibly can add to the contemporary knowledge about ‘super predators’ in Jurassic period, DNA reported on Monday.

Remains of the marine reptile called Arminisaurus schuberti was found in early 1980s in Germany.

According to researchers, Plesiosaurs are ranked amongst reptiles of the time that were the most predators successful. Some species of the family, for instance, Liopluerodon are believed to be at least 15 metres long.

"They were the equivalent of White sharks and Killer whales in the oceans today," Baily News and Analysis quoted a researcher from Naturkunde-Museum Bielefeld in Germany, Sven Sachs.

In comparison, Arminisaurus were about three to four metres long and fed on fish and squid.
