Bombed Minnesota Mosque received $85,000 donation for Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center's restoration

(Web Desk) – More than $85,000 has been raised for a mosque in Minnesota after an explosive device was thrown at the mosque on August 5. Though no one was injured it was considered as an “act of terrorism” by the Mayor of Minnesota.

According to the Independent, The explosion happened at Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington before the morning prayers that caused extensive damages to the imam’s office.

The FBI said that it was an “improved explosive device.”

Countless people raised more than 85,000 on GoFundMe crowdfunding page while a LaunchGood page raised more than $21,000.

Well-wishers left flowers outside the mosque to show their solidarity with the Muslim community.
Mohammad Omar, the mosque’s director, stated that his community is grateful for the support they have received from the public.

Mr. Omar stated, the bombing was "horrific and tragic,”

"on the other hand, good people came out, and they outnumber that one bad guy, and we are so pleased and so happy to see this community coming together in our support."

Governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton visited the mosque the next day and called the bombing a “wrechted” terrorist act.

Islamic leaders in Minnesota and elsewhere in the country have said that they are waiting for the president Trump’s statement to say something about the terrorist act.

But President’s adviser, Sebastian Gorka, said the White House will wait for the investigations to complete before commenting on the incident. Mr Gorka also suggested that it may have been an orchestrated hoax “act by the left”.

Dar Al-Farooq opened in 2011 at the site of a former elementary school and serves people primarily from the area’s Somali community.

According to the latest census figures, roughly 57,000 Somali’s in Minnesota constitutes as the largest Muslim community from Somalia in US.
