NEW YORK (Dunya News) - Prominent Kashmiri leader Ghulam Nabi Faiz has said that Kashmiri leadership has now become united and no one can defeat them.
While talking to Dunya News correspondent Moviz Asad Siddiqui in New York, he asserted that the anthem of Kashmiris is not ‘Vande Matram’ but ‘freedom’.
“India has martyred more than one lac people in occupied Kashmir. The atrocities committed by the Indian army in the valley cannot be explained,” said Ghulam Nabi Faiz.
Talking about the re-polling he said, “On April 13, re-polling was held in the Budgam district which is the biggest constituency. The Hurriyet leadership boycotted the polls. Hindustan Times reported that only two percent people participated in the elections whereas 98 percent did not vote.”
The Kashmiri leader suggested that despite of Indian brutalities the urge for freedom in the people has not suppressed, instead it has picked up pace.
When asked whether the Kashmiris are frightened by the threats of India he said, “Modi came to Kashmir one week before polls and appealed them to take part in elections. He and India’s defence minister openly threatened the people that terrorists will be ruined. But when Hurriyet leaders give a call to the people they follow it, these people are not terrorists.”
Commenting on the recent incident where Kashmiri youth were arrested for wearing Pakistani jersey and singing national anthem he said, “Pakistan supports the freedom of Kashmir due to which the people are with every slogan that is raised in Pakistan. However; our students are forced to sing Indian anthem and are expelled from universities if they do not act on the orders.”
