Summary Intense shortage of food and medicine has been surfaced due to continuous curfew in the region.

SRINAGAR (Web Desk / Dunya News) - Over a hundred people were injured in brutal actions of Indian armed forces on peaceful protesters across the territory in occupied Kashmir as the violence enters 28th day on Friday.

Thousands of people defying curfew came out of their houses and held forceful anti-India demonstrations in almost all 10 districts of the Valley and Kishtwar in Jammu region on Thursday. The protesters raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. They staged sit-ins as a mark of protest against the ongoing killing spree in Kashmir.

Police used brute force on participants of a procession, who while raising “UN Wake Up – Wake Up’, We Want Plebiscite’ and ‘State Terrorism Down-Down’ marched towards UN Observers’ office at Sonawar in Srinagar.

The troops burnt over three dozen motorcycles of youth during a rally in Pahalgam. Clashes erupted in many areas including Kishtwar, Shopian, Bandipore and Rajouri when forces’ personnel fired teargas shells and pellets on the protesters.

Meanwhile, curfew and other restrictions continued in Srinagar, Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, Islamabad and other parts of the territory to curb protests erupted after killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani on July 8.

In a bid to end street protests, police during its massive crackdown arrested over 500 youth from different areas of the Valley. The personnel of the forces conducted nocturnal raids to arrest the youth.

The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement announced to honour posthumously the martyred commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, with Tamgha-e-Azeemat, the Medal of Steadfastness.

On the other hand, the Amnesty International while reacting to the killings due to use of pellets by Indian forces in Kashmir in a statement said that pellet guns were inherently inaccurate and indiscriminate, and had no place in law enforcement. The human rights watchdog urged the Indian authorities to immediately stop the use of pellet guns in policing protests.
