US General David Petraeus has officially taken charge of the 130,000 NATO and US soldiers battling Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants in Afghanistan. General Petraeus will attempt to adopt a strategy similar to the one he implemented in Iraq which helped to considerably reduce violence in the country.General David Petraeus urged the NATO and the Afghan government to work closely in order to curb terrorism. Gen Petraeus reitierated that the coalition would not back down against the Taliban. He paid tribute to his predecessor, Gen Stanley McChrystal.
