Crowded bus falls into gorge in Kashmir, killing at least 23
The 48-seat public bus was traveling to the town of Uthampur when the accident happened.
SRINAGAR (AP) - A crowded bus has gone off a rocky village road and fallen into a deep gorge, killing at least 23 people in the Indian occupied Kashmir on Monday.
Police inspector general Danish Rana says the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve. At least 25 other people were injured in the accident.
Rana says police have reached the area and are evacuating the injured.
The 48-seat public bus was traveling to the town of Uthampur when the accident happened near the village of Marotthi, more than 200 kilometers (120 miles) south of Kashmir s main city of Srinagar.
