Summary Huthis told the Security Council to "respect the will and sovereignty of the Yemeni people”
SANAA (AFP) - A Shiite militia rejected Monday a UN call for it to cede power in Yemen after it seized the capital Sanaa and put the president and premier under effective house arrest.
The militia, known as Huthis, told the Security Council to "respect the will and sovereignty of the Yemeni people, and to be accurate and objective", a day after the UN body urged it to quit and free the leaders, as well as engage in UN-brokered negotiations.
