India: Two women assaulted to death under suspicion of sorcery

Summary Police have not taken any step so far to start investigation for this case.

RAIPUR (Web Desk) – At least two women including 60-year-old woman along with her daughter were beaten to death under their involvement in black magic by native people at Mahak village of Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh.

According to details, incident took place on November 13 but got hype when relatives of deceased did boycott of the village and left it. One of the relatives informed police about the incident but police didn’t take any action.

Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amit Kamble stated that FIR can only be filed after investigating the whole case whereas this will take few days.

The victims have been identified as Dasri Bai and Rambati.

Villagers claimed their suspicious activities regarding black magic and witchcraft.

Chhattisgarh had previously noted various activities of violence against woman but no action has been taken by Indian government and local police.

Moreover, over 250 women in state have lost their lives in several incidents of being branded as witches and murdered.
