RABAT (AP) Morocco s government says a terror cell with links to al-Qaida affiliates in North Africa and Syria has been dismantled.
In a statement Friday, the country s Interior Ministry said the cell s four members were led by one of the most visible militants on jihadist websites. He was said to have been directed by leaders of al-Qaida s North Africa affiliate to recruit Moroccans in anti-government attacks.
The statement said among those being recruited were Moroccans with links to al-Qaida fighters in Syria.
Friday s announcement brings the number of terror cells dismantled this year in Morocco to four, including two in May.
