Rasul Temirbekov, spokesman for the Investigative Committee in Dagestan, said Thursday that Rabbi Ovadia Isakov was shot by an unknown man on Wednesday as he left his car and was walking home in Derbent, a city on the Caspian Sea. He is now in intensive care in a grave condition awaiting surgery, local officials said.
