Summary Obama and Cameron will hold a joint news conference.
WASHINGTON (AFP) - British Prime Minister David Cameron arrived at the White House on Monday for talks with US President Barack Obama, as the pair seek to push a new diplomatic effort to end the civil war in Syria.
Obama and Cameron were scheduled to hold a joint news conference at about 1515 GMT following their meeting in the Oval Office.
Cameron s visit to Washington comes three days after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, at which the two leaders sought to forge a common approach to ending the conflict that has been raging since March 2011.
Cameron s spokesman said ending the "bloody and brutal" war in Syria was "top of the agenda" for the White House talks, along with the prime minister s plans for next month s G8 summit in Northern Ireland.
The pair "will discuss how to find a political solution in Syria that will bring the 27-month onflict to end, building on the PM s discussions with President Putin from Friday," the spokesman told reporters in London.
