The strike of more than 1200 soldiers for higher pay began in South Africas capital. More than 10 people were injured when the soldiers clashed with police. Dozens of police and military vehicles were damaged. Police used water cannons, rubber bullets and teargas to disperse about 1,200 soldiers who staged an illegal march on South Africa's government offices.
