Vote counting has ended in Afghanistans presidential elections, and both President Hamid Karzai and chief rival Abdullah Abdullah claimed victory on Friday. The results would be announced next week according to the Afghan Election Commission. The turnout remained 40 to 50 percent of the total voting. The Election Commission said that vote counting was continued in Kabul, Nangarhar, Baglan and Harat. The spokesman of election campaign of Abdullah Abdullah claimed that his candidate obtained 63 percent votes. On the other side, campaign spokesman of Hamid Karzai claimed that his candidate got clear majority.
