In a country which claims to be the worlds largest secular democracy, the BJP, a major political party of India, has fired its senior leader and former foreign minister Jaswant Singh for praising Pakistans founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his new book. The BJP Parliamentary Board has taken the decision to fire Mr. Singh. A three-day session of the party is in process in Shimla from today. BJP President Rajnath Singh told reporters that the party had yesterday directed Mr. Singh not to come for the partys session but he had left for Shimla by then. Today we informed him again not to come into the partys session, president maintained. Recently published book by Jaswant Singh has incited severe criticism by his own party. Singh in his book titled Jinnah: India, Partition, Independence has authored that Muhammad Ali Jinnahs personality is wrongly portrayed in India. Singh has held former Indian premier Jawahir Lal Nehru and Congress responsible for the partition. After the books release, BJP President maintained that the book was based on Mr. Singhs personal opinion and showed complete disassociation with it as the BJP President. The book was released on August 17. Jaswant Singhs interviews are also printed and broadcasted in local and international media following the books release in which he further elaborated his viewpoint.
