Summary First wedding anniversary of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and his wife Kate today.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Catherine, more popularly known as Kate, will spend their first wedding anniversary on Sunday in private -- no doubt reflecting on a busy year.At Kates first Gala event in June, an annual dinner for a childrens charity, she dazzled the crowds wearing a sequinned dress by British designer Jenny Packham.In July, they visited California, where they met Hollywood stars at a BAFTA dinner.And the couple remain a firm favourite with British monarchy fans around the world.What was set to be a quiet August for the couple was disrupted by riots across many English cities.William and Kate met a shop keeper in Birmingham, whose premises had been trashed by gangs.Following in the footsteps of Princess Diana, in September they met young patients at the Royal Marsden cancer hospital in the south of England, where Diana made one of her early public appearances.Sharing his mothers ability to connect with people from all walks of life, William made youngsters laugh with a dance during a visit to the charity Centrepoint in December - also supported by his late mother.In February and March, William was sent to the Falklands as part of his Royal Air Force job, where he continued his work as a search and rescue pilot, while Kate carried out a number of successful solo engagements.The royal pair attended charitable receptions this week but will now celebrate a year of marriage away from the public gaze.
