Summary

It was a privilege denied to many, but a chosen few, like the kids from various schools and physically and visually challenged kids got to spend time with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday. The kids visited the Prime Minister's official residence and tied Rakhis to him on the occasion of sibling festival 'Raksha Bandhan', a Hindu festival observed to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. Some kids also presented Singh with a beautiful painting made by them. Kids from a Delhi orphanage also got lucky when they got to spend some time with Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of India's federal ruling Congress party. The kids were special guests to whom Sonia tied Rakhi on 'Raksha Bandhan'. They were also presented with chocolates by Gandhi as a gift. After her husband's death, former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi, Sonia has gained wide popularity amongst the masses in the country. She has also been appreciated for her able guidance in veering the Congress party towards its second consecutive victory.
