Ahmadinejad sworn in as Iranian president

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been sworn in as president of Iran for a second term in office. Ahmadinejad took the oath in an inauguration ceremony in parliament today. He pledged to protect the constitution and frontiers of Iran. Opposition groups have called protesters to the streets to coincide with the inauguration. Hundreds of policemen are deployed around the parliament, while a subway station nearby was closed to the public. A massive security operation is expected outside parliament and other areas of the capital.
