SAN FRANCISCO (Web Desk) - More than 100 people in the US city of San Francisco took part in an unusual event to vent their frustration and anger by screaming loudly together while facing the Pacific Ocean.
The unique event, titled “Guttural Scream at the Sea,” was organised by local resident Daniel Egan near Ocean Beach.
Egan said he himself felt the need for a powerful scream, so he thought of inviting others to join him.
The event advertisement listed rising rents, frustration caused by artificial intelligence, anger and simply feeling better after screaming as some of the reasons for participating.
Before the collective scream, a formal screaming contest was also held, with participants judged on the volume, duration and style of their screams.
Olivia Guglielmotto won the contest after her scream was recorded at 121.9 decibels, just below the world record of 129 decibels. She received a small megaphone as a prize.
The winner said her scream was not for any single thing, but for “the whole world.”
