The 53-year-old from Birmingham, who is married to John Hemming a Liberal Democrat MP, was convicted of burglary at a hearing last month and has now been given a nine-month jail sentence, which is suspended for 12 months.Furthermore, she will also have to complete 150 hours of community service and pay £1,000 in costs. She refused to comment after the hearing, however her husband said: Im not happy about the situation generally. Its not good, is it, but none of it was necessarily that good anyway. Obviously its not a nice situation to be in, nobody would wish it, but thats the way it is. He went on to say that the whole case has not been nice for their children to see, however his wife should have stayed out of his lovers garden.
