Summary A devotee of Saint Sai Baba prepares 8000 kilograms of Khichdi, a dish made of rice and lentils.

In an attempt to set record on Saturday (October 15), a devotee of revered saint Sai Baba prepared 8000 kilograms of Khichdi, a dish made of rice and lentils, in Bhopal city of Indias central Madhya Pradesh state. Thousands of devotees gathered in Sai baba temple to witness the grand event in the city.I thought that Khichdi for Baba (Saint Sai) was not prepared in such a large amount and in such a huge container. So, I wanted to make this sort of khichdi and container for Baba in India as well in the whole world. This was my belief and I think that it will come true, said R K Mahajan, a devotee and the organiser. The organiser believed that this record attempt has the potential to make its entry in Guinness Records Book. Today on the occasion of the third anniversary of the temple, he (R K Mahajan, a devotee and the organiser) has organised this grand event. He wanted to organise a grand event, which has not been organised in India as well as in the world yet. So, we have designed this handi (container), which has a capacity of 12,000 kilograms and its weight is two and a half ton and it took around three months to complete, said Manjit Daali, another devotee. He added that around 2000 quintal of rice, five quintal of four different kinds of pulses, 3000 kilograms of vegetables, 15,000 litres of oil were used in the preparation of khichdi. An earthmover was used to transfer the dish from the huge handi (a cooking vessel used in villages) into another containers.
