73-year old turns plane into dream home
OREGON (Web Desk) – A 73-year old man in Oregon turned a plane, bought in 1999 for US$100000 from a salvage, into dream home.
Bruce Campbell, an electrical engineer by profession, had bought 31000kg heavy Boeing 727-200 from a salvage in Greece. He spent US$120000 to get it transported to his home country. The plane’s interior is 1066 sq-ft that hosts a large room and two toilets. Campbell has turned old plane seats to bed. Though a comfortable place to live in, the plane does not have wifi inside as the wifi signals can not pierce through the plane’s body. It took two years to renovate it at a cost of US$15000.
Moreover, it costs $370 a month to live inside the plane, US$220 of which are paid as monthly property tax and the remaining goes for electricity bills. Campbell is now attempting to restore the plane’s computer system.
As Bruce spends a lot of his time in Japan, he desires to have a plane-home in Japan too.
