Summary Chinese singer gets Covid-19 to save her new year’s concert

BEIJING (Web Desk) – Jane Zhang, a popular Chinese singer, inflicted herself with Covid-19 so she might be able to perform at her concert witout the risk of contracting the virus on the eve of new year.

And she did it because she wanted to save herself from the possibility of contracting the virus later at the concert as China is in the grips of the Omicron variant of the deadly virus that has claimed over 5000 lives countrywide according to Chinese government and over 40000 according to global media.

In a Weibo [China’s social media] post, she wrote that she had visited the homes of “sheep” – a colloquial term for virus carriers in mainland China – in preparation for an upcoming New Year s Eve concert, Chinese media reported.

The weirdness doesn’t end here. She shared another post on Weibo later wherein she wrote “All the symptoms faded away after I took rest for a day”. “I did not take any medicine but drank a lot of water and took Vitamin C”, she added.

“I am not sure if it’s appropriate to ask, but does my case with symptoms lasting for only one day count as a [coronavirus] positive case?”, she asked.

And this was the moment “Dolphin Princess” started receiving public flak for being irresponsible that later culminated in her tendering an apology for her act.

She boasts over 43m followers on Weibo and has also been a winner of a national singing competition in 2005.
