2000-year-old Vishnu Temple, water tank, watchtowers discovered in Swat

SWAT (Dunya News) – A 2000-year-old temple of Vishnu, water tank and watchtowers have been discovered on a mountain by the archaeologists in Swat’s Barikot Ghundai.



Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Archaeology’s Fazle Khaliq told that the temple was built during the rule of the Hindu Shahi dynasty. He further said that the traces of the Hindu Shahi period have been found for the first time in Swat.



Head of the Italian archaeological mission Dr Luka said this was the first temple of the Ghandhara civilisation that was discovered in the district.
