Summary A white fawn was born to a spotted deer in east China's Shandong province.
Experts say that it is a very rare occurrence. The parents of this white deer are both pure spotted deer. Experts say they have never come across such a deer in years. Fawn has been exceptionally energetic compared to other new-borns and it was galloping around the farm just four short hours after its birth. White deer, also known as snow deer, are a very precious breed of spotted deer and are becoming increasingly uncommon because of more crossovers in the genetic pool going further down the line. Despite its unusual coat the fawn was born a normal size and build, weighing six kilogrammes at birth. The birth of a white deer is seen as an auspicious sign in China.
