Unique ritual in India to seek blessings for happy married life

Men in Jejuri district of Indias western Maharashtra carry their wives on their shoulders to seek blessings from Hindu deity Lord Khandoba for a happy married life.Within two days of their wedding, thousands of couples throng the temple to perform elaborate rituals.The first four to five steps that are there, my husband has to carry me and climb the steps of the temple. This is a ritual so my husband has to perform it. So, husbands generally do this. We only pray that we live a blissful life in the future, said a female participant in the ritual.Since Lord Khandoba is considered a giver of fertility, couples are expected to visit the temple after the consummation of their marriage.
