Old man marries childhood love after 65 years
He fell for Asmat when he was 4 and she was still an infant
(Web Desk) – Cairo’s senior journalists, 85 yrs old Hussain Qadri and 81 yrs old Asmat Sadiq said their wedding vows after a love affair that lasted for more than 6 decades.
According to media reports, the duo got married in a wedding ceremony held in a press club in central Cairo, attended by close relatives and the journalist fraternity.
According to Hussain, both maternal cousins love story is unique In the sense that he fell for Asmat when he was only 4 and she was still an infant. One day his aunt, busy in cooking put Asmat, who was still an infant in his lap to look after her, cautioning him to take care of her and not think of her as a toy.
From that day forward, Hussain made up his mind to include Asmat in his life forever.Their love blossomed and after he wished for them both to get married, they got engaged in 1952.
But in a twist of fate, Asmat’s father changed his mind after four months; breaking off the engagement he got her married off to his nephew.
Then on, both led their separate lives with their spouses, but their love for journalism and literature kept them in touch.
During this time both got married more than once, but they never stopped loving each other and after a wait of 65 years they finally decided to give it a go and lead a life together forever.
