Doctors remove 11kg ovarian tumour from Indian woman's body
Bai is recovering well and is due to be discharged in three days.
MADHYA PRADESH (Web Desk) - Surgeons at Indubhai Parekh Memorial Hospital in India’s Madhya Pradesh removed a 26lb (11.8kg) ovarian tumour from a woman’s belly.
A 70-year-old Lila Bai was admitted in the hospital in severe pain. Her tumour was diagnosed by the doctors two years back and advised operation.
However; the woman was not able to afford the surgery as a result of which the growth continued to enlarge to 40 x 35cm making Lila Bai looked pregnant.
Bai is recovering well and is due to be discharged in three days.
Dr Indu Singh said: ‘Even if it would have been a little delay in surgery, it might be burst inside the body.
‘It has been sent to pathological lab for testing.’
Although unclear if the tumour is cancerous, surgeon Dr Jitender Singh added: ‘If remnants are found in body it may be treated by chemotherapy.’
