Dubai schoolboy buys car number plate for 1.5 million dirhams
Khalifa Al Mazrouei aged 12 purchased the "1111" vehicle registration plate for 1.5 million dirhams.
ABU DHABI (Agencies) - Khalifa Al Mazrouei, a Grade 5 student from Zayed Academy aged 12, purchased the "1111" vehicle registration plate, spending one and a half million dirhams for it during an auction held at the Emirates Palace hotel by the Abu Dhabi Police Force.
One third of the sum Khalifa earned himself, having won the Quran reciting contest, and the rest of the money he received from his father. Most likely, the boy will place the obtained luxurious number plate on the family s G-class Mercedes, on which his personal driver usually takes him to school.
The auction, held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Abu Dhabi Police Force, had reportedly collected more than 55 million dirhams (15 million dollars). The most prominent item sold at this auction was a number "2" plate that was sold for 10 million dirhams (2.7 million dollars).
