CHICHA WATNI (Dunya News) – In a surprising move, a groom diverted his baraat to a polling station today (Monday) to cast his vote in by-election in NA-162 constituency of Chicha Watni.



Groom Naveed Ahmed, in his wedding attire, headed towards the polling station while dhol (drum) beats resounded across the streets and his friends and relatives danced around him.



The polling process started at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm without any interval.

A total of 340,347 voters will exercise their right of vote in the constituency.

The seat fell vacant after the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf‘s (PTI) MNA Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan.

A close contest is expected between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf‘s candidate Rai Murtaza, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz‘s (PML-N) Tufail Jatt and Pakistan People‘s Party (PPP) candidate Shahzad Saeed.
