SYDNEY (Dunya News) – Australian police apologized for leaving suitcase carrying explosive device at the Sydney Airport for over a month.

The device was hidden inside the suitcase along with a 300 gram explosive material. According to the police, the device was being carried to train the dogs.

According to the international media the suitcase was offered to a lady who got her bag broken on the flight. On receiving the suitcase, she handed it over to the police and the police evacuated the building in case of any likely mishap.

The police have now handed over the device to the State Police. Commander Wayne Buchhorn said that the department is taking the matter seriously and has identified the negligent police officer and is now interrogating him.

Australian federal police (AFP) released a statement the previous week and apologized.
