Summary For portly puss Ulric, life is about to get a lot tougher.

Weighing in at 13kg (30lb), Ulric is morbidly obese, says his vet, and is believed to be the heaviest cat in Britain.
Now a strict diet and an exercise plan loom.

‘He’s just very greedy and lazy, he doesn’t do any exercise and spends all day lying around,’ said owner Jan Mitchell.

Seven-year-old Ulric is quite happy to eat his and his sister Ulla’s food.

‘I have tried to take him for a walk on a lead but he didn’t want to know,’ added Mrs Mitchell, 68, from Dorchester, Dorset.

Now he has been entered in a slimming competition run by the PDSA charity.

‘We’re confident Ulric will have a slim-line figure and new lease of life by the end of the competition,’ said Stella Hughes, from the PDSA.
