SAN BRUNO (Dunya News) – YouTube has introduced several new features and interface updates for YouTube Shorts aimed at improving the overall viewing experience of short-form videos.

The platform, which launched Shorts five years ago to compete with TikTok said the latest changes are designed to make short video consumption more convenient and personalized.

One of the key additions is a new clear screen mode, which hides on-screen icons and text to reduce distractions and allow users to focus entirely on the video.

The company has also introduced playback speed controls for Shorts, enabling users to watch videos at up to double speed for faster viewing.
In another major change, the traditional thumbs-up icon is being replaced with a heart icon, which will serve as the new like button.

Additionally, the dislike button is being removed from Shorts and replaced with 'Not Interested' and 'Don’t Recommend This Channel' options, giving users more direct control over content recommendations.

These options have long been available for standard YouTube videos but are now being extended to Shorts as well.

The company said the dislike button was often used unfairly by many users, prompting the shift toward more preference-based feedback tools.

According to YouTube, these updates will provide users with greater control over their Shorts experience and make it easier to personalize content recommendations.
