Punjab’s Safe Cities Authority, with support from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, has blocked more than 100 fake and phishing websites posing as official e-challan portals
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has stepped up its campaign against fake and phishing websites that were using the name of the official e-challan system to trick citizens into making illegal online payments.
In a joint effort with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the authority has blocked more than 100 fraudulent domains. These included websites such as echallan-psca.top, pscae-challan.com, echallanpunjab.com, and pscae-challan.vip, among several others that were set up to look like official portals.
A PSCA spokesperson said the fake websites were “trying to make a fast buck” by luring people into paying traffic fines on unverified platforms. Citizens have been strongly advised not to “take the bait” and avoid making any payments on suspicious or unapproved websites.
For safe and secure verification of e-challans, the spokesperson urged the public to use only the official Safe Cities website at echallan.psca.gop.pk or the Public Safety App.
The spokesperson added that legal and disciplinary action against those running fake websites has been intensified, stressing a “zero-tolerance” policy against fraudsters and anyone misleading the public.
The authority also reminded citizens to “look before they leap” when making online payments and to report any suspicious activity to help keep others out of harm’s way.
