Samsung is making health, wellness smart ring

Samsung didn’t share much more about the ring
(Web Desk) - Samsung just announced that it’s working on a smart ring. The ring, called the Galaxy Ring, was teased at the very end of unpacked showcase, and the company briefly described it as a “powerful and accessible” health and wellness device.
Outside of a brief video showing off what the Galaxy Ring looks like, Samsung didn’t share much more about the ring. The company didn’t say when the device is coming out or what it might cost, for example.
But it’s perhaps not too surprising that Samsung is jumping into the... ring... given that this already seems to be the year of the smart ring, if CES is anything to go by.
And there was a potential clue that the Galaxy Ring was on the way: last year, it was reported that Samsung filed a patent for a smart ring that would offer an EKG and smart home controls.
Given today’s focus on AI features for Samsung’s new Galaxy smartphones, I’m guessing that Samsung will tout some AI-powered tools for the Galaxy Ring at some point, too. Hopefully Samsung doesn’t wait too long to share more.
The company concluded today’s Galaxy S24 Unpacked event by announcing the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
By bringing Samsung Health’s cutting-edge innovations to a brand-new form factor, we’ve created a powerful and accessible health and wellness device here to change the shape of future health, like only Samsung can.
Meet the Galaxy Ring, with AI technology is empowering us to stay connected, unleash our creativity and build healthier habits all in more meaningful ways.
This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait for you to try it yourself.
That’s it. We know it’s a ring. We know it’s called the Galaxy Ring. We can intuit that it will tap into the existing Samsung Health app ecosystem, leveraging number of features introduced on the Galaxy Watch line over the years.
Of course, while company, the form factor does have its feature limitations owing to a small size. That’s likely just fine for Samsung, which will try to convince folks to wear both devices to supplement one another.
